    My stalling point has been physical fitness and flexibility. I know what I'm supposed to do i just can't do it physically in live rolling.

      I added pilates to my workouts and it is amazing for flexibility and conditioning. It's Low impact so you can still lift and do normal cardio. It also really helps with inversion and bridging and shrimping.

    Kind of no point to being a fast learner, if you a FL and a slow learner started at the same time; you would still be at the same belt level. Which is, imo ridiculous. McDojo tactics of equality?

    Roger Gracie never used it saying it’s too easy to escape as you just have to break the grip on the pants. I love it but because of what Roger said I tend to use a variation that doesn’t rely on that pant grip.

    I'm a blue belt and I refused when my coach gave me the purple belt. The reason because I changed coach. It took me 2.5 year to get my blue. When the new coach take over. He offered me the purple after 1.5 year. I feel like my new coach standard is low. For me, he is more of a lazy coach that refused to accept the new bjj movement

    Arm bar threat?

    • @JiuJitsuInMinutesbyJasonScully
      @JiuJitsuInMinutesbyJasonScully 8 днів тому

      Based on the push and body angle it’s pretty hard for them to easily armbar you. Also you should be expecting this obvious attack when they try an armbar. This allows you to react in time to be ready.

    • @JiuJitsuInMinutesbyJasonScully

    Well if you do such a terrible roll, then you will get caught in side control each time. Put some speed,timing and explosiness into the roll, and you end up on top

  • @BTsNemesis
    @BTsNemesis 10 днів тому

    I had an accident in pretty much this position where my partner tried to turn on the side and throw his leg ontop, but he was just a tad short so what happened was basically a full torque on my toes without any opportunity to tap or move my knee. Somehow all my ligaments survived, but I limped for a month and for like a week I felt it in the ankle, knee and even hip. With some bad luck you could end up giving yourself what is essentially an inside heel hook that comes on with no time to tap. To each their own, but to me the straight ankle is the least of my concerns about that position..

  • @brettg1

    Love this grip. Been using it in gi for awhile. I think I saw Marcelo Garcia use it. It’s helpful because I’m older and don’t like fighting for that kimura finish against stronger guys. And going for that choke is awesome ! PS. You’re one of the first guys I started watching when I first started Bjj back in 2011. Loved your videos.

    Generally good advice. However, this plays into the hands of the fighter that uses techniques that rely on knee-jerk resistant reactions. It's just one of those things.

    I like to flow roll and always request light rolls with my partners. I don’t like to be complacent and let them land moves I could otherwise resist but I also want to honor my request to keep the energy low. It’s a hard balance. I don’t want to risk injury to anyone but I also don’t want to ingrain passivity into my instincts.
